Sri Lanka is striving to ensure all citizens have equal access to technology. This is driven mainly by the government’s vision of empowering the next generation to have the necessary skills and competencies required to take the island nation towards a technology driven society. Even as digitalization is beginning to be a general purpose technology, equity and equality aligned to equal access needs to be addressed. Education is perceived to have the greatest impact on a child and the recent developments in the world have pushed all education sectors not only in the country but also the world into remote learning. This poses a bigger challenge for a country like Sri Lanka where basic infrastructure facilities are still lacking. 

The lighting digital initiative aims to be a trusted platform for donors to freely donate extra digital devices or even buy a new device and help out the needy students who yearn to learn anywhere, anytime regardless of any physical or geographical obstacles.
